The Next Gen Consoles vs PC gaming

I have heard a lot in the gaming community that PC gamers feel that they already have the next gen within their high end computers. The fact of the matter is, the games are the same. They play the same. They have the same features generally. The graphics and physics are the only thing that got an upgrade typically. Jumping up to 8GB RAM in the new consoles is a drastic leap from where we stand today. This will allow for a myriad of new tricks and extras. We've complained before about lack of Easter Eggs in games today too, and this opens the door to bring them back along with all of the graphical, physical, and whatever else they wanna toss in. I for one am incredibly excited for this next push and can only hope the fan base keeps their heads about them while we test out these new technologies.

Also, I think it's time for the Sony v. Microsoft v. Nintendo v. PC free-for-all fan-feud to end. We all like games, unite under that banner and let others have fun with their choices too.

Community Built Gaming

We've come to expect things in our games today. Whether it be customization, level editing, or carry over content, the fact remains that gamers (casual to thumb-master) like having these extras. This brings me to why I've asked you here. Starting work on my first title, I would like input from gamers all around the world on what you would like to see more of/less of/at all in games. What features have you always thought and dreamed of, yet never seen utilized? What types of cultural groups are being less or not represented that you feel warrant the spotlight? How would you like the game to handle its inventory system? Do more or less items make a game better? More definitely increases customization but surely causes a lack of importance for most equipment. There will always be something better down the road. If there is a lot of content, should all gameplay aspects such as alchemy, smithing, etc. be available at the beginning of the game or should they have to be earned through a series of varied tasks and skills? All things to thing about when designing your own game. Now sound off in the comments below about your ideal game and the features you would include! Let's create something wonderful together!
